Why start a blog?

As a young professional the idea of starting a garden of your own may seem daunting. Ever spent hours googling immaculate gardens only to find yourself feeling overwhelmed? Did you think, “I don’t have time for that” or possibly “that must be so expensive” or even the tried and true “maybe when I retire”?? You’re not alone. As a young professional who spends her time fighting the hustle and bustle of the rat race we call corporate America, I’m often asked by my colleagues how I find time to garden. I bring in buckets (literally) full of fresh vegetables to share with my peers and always hear the same comment, “I would love to but I wouldn’t even know where to start!” That is why I have started this blog. I am going to share my experiences with fellow young gardeners. The good, the bad, the bugs and the blight. All of it. Yes, you read that right — YOUNG gardeners — you don’t have to be eligible for a senior discount to enjoy the endless benefits of gardening!! I have gardened in four states, each of which has proven to bear it’s own challenges, and learned a great deal along the way. That being said, I am by no means a master and I am hoping to learn just as much from this blogging experience as you do! Cheers, friends!!

Immature green pole beans.

  1. Good choice. Gardening is a hobby to enjoy your entire life. You are never too young or too old to enjoy it…although as we get old we have to scale back some of the harder tasks or bring in some help.

    1. All the more reason for young gardeners to know the ropes! I am very hopeful that as this blog grows we will attract both junior and senior gardeners alike and the exchange of ideas and advice will be beneficial to all.
